Hello, World!

Hello, World! At long last I have a functioning website and blog. As remarked on Twitter this is something which I have wanted to do for a long time, but I have never been completely satisfied with the available options, particularly with regard to themes.

Specifically I have always been looking for a clean and minimal option that enables me to manage a traditional homepage and blog separately. Finally I have found this in, as the footer indicates, a combination of the Hugo static site generator and the recently released Eureka theme. Although this combination has still required a few tweaks to meet my liking, C. Wang has done an excellent job of creating ‘a feature-rich and highly customizable Hugo theme’ which suits my needs.

I intend to use this blog to produce content similar to what is seen on my Twitter but in a slightly longer form. This means that it is likely to cover everything from tech to cooking as well as more opinionated pieces such as reviews and general rambling.

To help facilitate discussion about these things I have also included comments via Disqus. Ultimately it was a toss-up between Disqus and Commento, the other comment system supported by Eureka, but I went for Disqus to make participation easier. Please do leave a comment if you have any thoughts on what I write, but do remember that this is my personal blog and I reserve the right to remove comments.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you’ll be back in the future to check out new content as I post it.
